"So I can keep the ship...?" Melly questioned the old man. He replied with a nod and a leathery smile.
"Why..?" She shook her head. "It's your home!"
The old man hunched over and put all his weight on his cane. He was old and frail, probably at least eighty years old. "I can no longer control Blackout." He replied, revealing the name he'd given the frieghter. "I am of no used to her."
Melly looked over at the old man, her eyes full of sorrow. Nobody had given her anything like this before. She was speechless.
"Why me?"
"You are a smuggler, are you not?" He questioned.
"Not exactly."
"Then this ship will be very useful to you." The elderly male looked in her direction, but could not see her. He had gone blind long ago. "If you'll excuse me, I have some food waiting for me at the pub...I'm quite hungry."
That was the last time she'd seen the old man.
Melly jumped suddenly, her eyes shooting open in sudden panic. A loud noise had spooked her out of a deep sleep. Someone had dropped some heavy cargo on board and it had tumbled over. "Be careful with that!" She shouted, pushing herself to her feet. Goods were being loaded into the secret compartments of the freighter. Most of it was under the floor.
"If I see a single scratch, somebody's gonna pay!" Melly shouted at basically..the whole crew. Lucky for her they were only there to drop off their cargo. It had to be taken halfway across the galaxy...a long trip for just one person. The Blackout had been updated, an could make the trip easily. It would be the first time the thing would leave the planet in years. It took two people to fly, which meant she would need a copiolet. A hired one, of course. There were no free meals. All she had to do was wait. Gossip in this area traveled fast.
"What's all in there?" She questioned one of the workers. It was nice to know what was going on her ship. "Weapons, mainly. That and medical supplies." He responded without so much as a single glance. Melly stood by the ramp and watched as he finished loading the last of the cargo. She questioned his response, but said nothing. She could tell that these were not the good guys...it didn't matter though. A job was a job, and the sooner she left the easier or would be to avoid the authorites. What exactly would she be flying into?
(Anyone can jump in at this point.)
